Redundant MicroTCA Power Systems
This case study demonstrates how standard MicroTCA components can be used to provide redundancy for high-availability systems. The study describes a new high-efficiency and high-power-density DC/DC converter that is used within the standard Ericsson MicroTCA power supply and which provides many of the module's industry-leading performance attributes. The material contained in this paper was first presented on June 3, 2008, at the MicroTCA conference.

Traffic Analysis of Mobile Broadband Networks
Detailed knowledge about the traffic mixture is essential for network operators and administrators, as it is a key input for numerous network management activities. Basically, traffic analysis aims at identifying the traffic mixture of the network. Several different approaches co-exist in the literature, but none of them performs well for all different application traffic types present in the Internet.

A CommonSense Approach to Real-world Global Sensing
In this paper we present our view of sensor and actuator networks, how we position them relative to the network of the future and what support such networks would both bring to and require from the existing and future core network. We put a special emphasis on the support infrastructure, and describe our envisioned architecture for a future ubiquitous sensor and actuator framework.

An IETF-based Evolved Packet System beyond the 3GPP Release 8
3GPP is working on the new SAE Evolved Packet System (EPS) for Release 8 (R8), scheduled for completion in 2008. The target is a low-latency, higher data-rate, all-IP core network capable to support real-time packet services over multiple access technologies.

From Digital Confusion to Digital Conversion
It is now several years since commercial products with ‘added digital performance’ aiming to revolutionize the on-board power industry have been around in the marketplace. The debate around how such products will change the face of the world has never been so intense, resulting in a certain kind of confusion. Part of the material in this paper was first presented on September 10 during a plenary session at the Digital Power Forum 2007.
